Turning Point
(noun; an event marking a unique or important historical change of course or one on which important developments depend)
The Turning Point for each student’s academic career is knowing their learning skills profile. Learning skills (also known as brain skills or cognitive skills) are the mental tools that enable a person to read, write, think, plan, understand, remember, solve problems, process information, etc.
When cognitive skills are strong, learning is fast, easy, efficient, and even fun. When cognitive skills are weak, learning can be a struggle, or impossible in some cases. Cognitive skills are the foundational and essential tools for learning.
Knowing if a student has any weak learning skills can be life changing. It can lead to choices that can make the difference between success and failure.
